Competition Categories
Closed Syllabus Single Dance Events
All Closed Syllabus events will be invigilated. Any competitor dancing out of category will be penalized or disqualified.
Syllabus figures from the NDCA and all NDCA member organizations will be accepted.
Competitors may dance in up to 5 consecutive levels and in 2 age categories. Adults may dance down one age category and Youth may dance Adult A categories. Gentlemen and Ladies will compete in separate divisions in all closed single dance events
Open Single Dance Events
There are no syllabus restrictions imposed in Open categories.
Competitors may dance in 3 consecutive levels and in 2 age divisions

The Grand National Solo Showdance Championships
Solo exhibitions may be performed in any of the above listed categories including any Novelty or Cabaret routines. The maximum time allowed is 3 minutes. There are not restrictions in this category. Music must be in the form of tape or CD no records

Rules & Regulation
Registration
- All Professionals and Amateur Couples must be registered with the National Dance Council of America and must provide proof of such registration in order to compete. Visiting non-US professionals must be registered with the WD&DSC.

- Please register with the competition Registrar upon arrival at the event for package collection and entry confirmation
- Current NDCA card must be presented in order for a number to be issued.
- Competitors must report to the On Deck area a minimum of 5 heats prior to that in which they are competing. Failure to do so may result in loss of place in said heat. Any competitor not taking the floor when called by the Master of Ceremonies will face disqualification for that heat.
Release of Liability
- No responsibility for the loss or theft of articles left in changing rooms, ballrooms or hotel rooms can be accepted by Dance America, Inc., Peter & Cassandra Schneider or by the National Dance Council of America, inc., and neither can they be held liable for injury sustained by persons attending the event. Everyone attending does so at his/her own risk.
- All persons attending the Grand National Championships as spectators, competitors, guests or officials, shall be bound by NDCA rules, and by participating in the event, become automatically obliged to adhere to them.
- The organizers cannot be held responsible for personal charges made at the hotel. Hotel guests will be required to guarantee payment of all personal charges with a credit card or cash deposit upon check-in.
- The adjudication panel and scrutineer are highly qualified. The decision of the Chairman of Judges shall be final. No judge shall be harassed or questioned about the reason for their markings.
- The Skating System of scrutinizing shall be used.
- While on the event premises, competitors shall conduct themselves at all times in a civil and sportsmanlike manner.
- No smoking will be permitted in the ballroom.
Television Taping and Filming
Due to NDCA rules, no private video taping or filming will be allowed. A professional video production company will be on site to video your dancing. Tapes will be available for purchase. We will consider that everyone attending, by your very presence in the ballroom, consented to the use and release of any video, pictures, or names of said spectators/competitors who may appear in promotional materials. Should you not consent to this please notify the organizer. Failure to do so by the entry deadline will be considered permission granted.
